Our People
At McLeods, we are proud to have a dedicated team of leading local government lawyers, who are driven to deliver excellence and client-focused services for all our clients throughout Western Australia.
McLeods’ success as one of the state’s leading law firms can be attributed to our team of diligent lawyers who specialise in a wide variety of matters relating to the operation and administration of local governments. Made up of experienced local government lawyers, the team at McLeods are familiar with the particularities and challenges local governments face, and there is hardly a local government legal issue we have not come across.
A team of expert lawyers, dedicated to creating the best solutions for our clients
Our core personnel have specialised experience in a variety of fields including planning law, native title, employment and governance. Additionally, we are the only law firm in Western Australia with a team of specialised lawyers who practice solely in the area of enforcement for local governments. Several members of the McLeods team have taught university courses in administrative, constitutional, town planning and property law.
Two of our partners (Denis McLeod and Craig Slarke) are leading planning lawyers in Western Australia and another of our partners, Peter Wittkuhn has been crucially involved in some of the most significant Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage cases in Western Australia. Neil Douglas, our leading partner in governance and administrative law, served as Acting Commissioner of the Crime and Corruption Commission for three years, and has drafted model employment contracts that are endorsed by LG Professionals WA and WALGA and are being increasingly used throughout the state.
